Black Series is an AMG programme reserved exclusively for carefully selected cars and which emphasizes the model's sporty character. The general features are an interior with a racing atmosphere, the adoption of sports seats, the deletion of comfort elements, improved braking system and increased engine performance. The monocoque construction is purposely made in order to maximize the structural rigidity and the use of carbon fiber is extensive. All these qualities are achieved without neglecting the brand's attention to build quality and passenger safety. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was launched on 9 July 2020, on Mercedes-AMG's YouTube channel, and on 4 November of the same year, it broke the Nürburgring Nordschleife record, becoming the world’s fastest production car at the “Ring” with a time of 6:43.616. For this model, the powertrain has been radically modified, with the adoption of a flat crankshaft and a different firing order. The top speed is higher and the turbocharger compressors are larger in diameter, with boost pressure increased from 1.35 bar to 1.7 bar.
